Self-organisational and Executive Functioning skills for home and school.
Is your child always losing their belongings? Does your child struggle to meet assignment deadlines?
They could be struggling with their Executive Functioning skills.
Executive Functioning skills allow your child to plan, focus attention, remember and juggle multiple tasks. They are vital for maintaining relationships, hobbies, studying and general day to day life.
As children mature, progress through school, and take on more responsibilities, the skills they need to manage and organise themselves increase in complexity.
This fantastic 3 day holiday course was developed by Kidz Therapy therapists after identifying that many children struggle with their self-organisational and Executive Functioning skills. This is also common feedback we've receive from schools and parents.
This course is facilitated by Helen Coll, an Occupational Therapist at Kidz Therapy. Helen draws on her clinical experience and extensive knowledge of practical and evidence-based strategies.

- An understanding of why self-organisation really matters
- How to plan and prioritise
- How to keep track of their belongings and look after other's belongings
- Systems to allow your child to access their bags and desks with more ease
- How to schedule e.g. reminders, to do lists, special events
- How to manage their time and energy across a week
- Tools to help them focus and pay attention
- How to tackle exam study & planning of school assignments
- Effective file systems for their devices
- Strategies to help change path when things don't go as planned
Prior to the course, all children and their parents / caregivers will have the opportunity to complete a Comprehensive Executive Functioning Inventory (CEFI) form. These forms are evidence based tools used by psychologists and educators to assess children with executive functioning issues. The results generated from these forms will ensure we provide targeted interventions specific to the groups needs.
Course Details
When: TBC for 2023 (3 day holiday course)
Time: 9.30am to 11.00am daily
Age Group: 9 to 11 year olds
Where: Kidz Therapy Centre, 642 New North Road, Morningside, Auckland 1022
Fee: $300.00 (incl GST), course price includes 1 x CEFI online form
